While the Cowboys, Indians, Vikings, Wildcats and Centurions of the Santa Clarita Valley slept, the Golden Valley Grizzly Varsity and Junior Varsity football teams walked onto the normally dark Grizzly football stadium at 12:01 a.m. The field was illuminated by lights provided by A.V. Equipment Rentals. This one-time practice was named Midnight Maneuvers.
By the amount of media and parents in attendance, this certainly won't be the end of this tradition. The Grizzlies, wearing camouflage practice shirts, were greeted by a sea of flash bulbs and a standing ovation by all. This history-making practice earned mention in The Signal. http://www.the-signal.com/news/article/3311/.
With their new look, the bigger, stronger, faster, and more experienced Grizzly football team went through a highly intense two-and-a-half hour practice. After practice, the players were fed a team meal, and then slept on the football field after watching Remember the Titans on a large screen set up at the 50-yard line.
The Grizzlies awoke at 6:00 a.m. to practice again and were fed a hot pancake breakfast before heading home.
